New Year’s Resolutions & Moving

December 31, 2013 | Bekins News & Events

Anyone can make New Year’s resolutions. But not just anyone can keep them. It has been said that it takes three weeks to establish a new habit .For some, the timeframe may be shorter while for other s the timeframe may be longer.

It can be difficult to establish these new habits as a part of your daily routine. But what happens when something like moving disrupts your daily routine?

Let the expert movers at Bekins handle your relocation so that you can focus on your goals this year. Below we offer some practical advice that will allow you to reach your New Year’s resolutions while moving.

A healthier you

Moving can be chaotic. It is hard to make your health a priority in the midst of a move. Bekins suggests planning out healthier eating options prior to your move. Make a note to fill your fridge with healthier options such  prepared fruit and veggie trays.  The last thing you will want to do is prepare a meal after you have been moving all day. This will be a convenient snack option when you get the ‘moving munchies’.

Make it a goal to carry on with your normal exercise routines. Or look at this as an opportunity to set a new goal to be more active.  When preparing for your move, try to pack one room a day. Packing can be a sweaty job and a perfect time to work out right after. Generally speaking, people feel most productive in the morning. Imagine feeling so accomplished that early in the morning! Not to mention, you will feel less overwhelmed by the daunting task of packing all of your household goods at one time.

Don’t put your hobbies on hold

Bekins does not want you to put your hobbies on hold because you’re moving.  In fact, we want you to be able to embrace your hobbies during this pivotal time in your life. Take time to photograph the move from start to finish. You can make a scrapbook of the pictures from your move. Compiling your pics into a photo book is another great idea. Online sites, such as Snapfish are great resources for such projects.

Persistence

No matter the resolution, persistence is a key factor in the success. It can be difficult to keep a regular routine when relocating. Let Bekins do the packing to eliminate some of the stress from your move. Bekins wants to assist you with your move to ensure you start 2014 with success!
