Bekins Truck Pull for GKTW and Move For Hunger

October 15, 2021 | Bekins Company News

Last week, our van line network sent representatives from local moving companies all across the country to get together in Nashville, Tennessee to compare challenges, discuss solutions, and listen to as much live music as we possibly could.

We also banded together to bring in donations for Give Kids The World (GKTW) Village, a nonprofit resort in Central Florida that offers week-long, cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families, and for Move For Hunger, a nonprofit organization that organizes food donations to food pantries all over the country.

On Thursday, we held a Silent Auction featuring items such as coolers and infinity chairs and trips to places like Indianapolis, Ind., New York, N.Y., Kansas City, Mo., and Seattle, Wash. Through the auction, we were able to bring in $10,168 for GKTW!

Then, on Friday, our entire group shuttled over to Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, to put on an event we’ve never done before: a Truck Pull, wherein teams of 8-10 pull a moving truck 100 feet — and try to do it faster than any other group! Through our many sponsors for the event, and with a kick-in from the van line, we were able to donate $10,000 each to GKTW and Move For Hunger. Talk about something to celebrate!
