Americans on the Move – Relocation trends to note

March 26, 2013 | Bekins News & Events

According to a recent article in Forbes, relocation trends statistics show an uptick in relocation in 2013. Americans are on the move., but where are they moving?

It seems this year more Americans are moving from the Northeast and Midwest to the West and South. A new 2012 census survey documented the population shifts and mostly contributed them to residents who were more likely to move after staying in the same place during the economic downturn. With the economy improving slowly, younger residents are moving to less traditional big cities in the hopes of better financial stability and stronger housing markets.

Through all the population shifts and economic fluctuation, remember that Bekins has been a trusted name in moving for generations. In fact, Bekins was founded in 1891 in Sioux, Iowa with only three horse drawn vans and twelve employees. The heritage of moving and storage leadership written by Bekins began in the horse and buggy days and has continuously developed through the international Information Age.

At Bekins, providing our customers with the best value and service is our main goal. This is moving.
